Green Juice Smoothie

This smoothie provides a quick, refreshing start to the day, and is a light energy-booster prior to a workout. At just 80 calories, with 2 grams of protein, it’s low in fat (just 0.5 grams!) and sugar, too (15 grams). It’s also got no cholesterol and delivers a good source of potassium (370 m.). Drink it up and start your engine!

 

 

(Serves 2)

Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups frozen mango cubes

1 cup unpeeled, chopped English cucumber

1 cup packed fresh baby spinach or chopped chard

3/4 cup unsweetened jasmine green tea* (made with 1 tea bag) or filtered water, chilled

2 tbsp. packed fresh mint leaves

1 tbsp. juice of 1/2 small lemon

2 tsps. fresh lime juice

1 tsp. grated fresh ginger root

 

Brew the tea as you would normally, using one teabag and boiling water. Pour into a cup, allow to chill in the refrigerator, or simply add ice. (It can also be made ahead of time.) Once cold, add it to the other ingredients and purée everything in a blender until smooth. Pour into 2 large beverage glasses and enjoy.

*You can also substitute with your choice of green tea.
